Adler Sprinter Solo

I was recently contacted by a family who were looking for a home for their late grandfathers Adler motorcycles. I travelled to High Wycombe to find a Sprinter Solo bought new by Francis Robert (Bob) Lord in 1957 and an MB250 bought second hand a few years later. I bought both bikes and they came with a wide variety of spare parts and documentation from the late 1950's.

In 1959 Bob rode the Sprinter accompanied by his friend Brian Beckford on the MB250 (249DMK) back to the Adler factory in Frankfurt for servicing.

Bob kept the insurance documentation for this trip from W.Burch & Sons of High Wycombe. I even have the original hire purchase agreement for his original purchase of the Sprinter. Some of his impressive collection of documentation will be scanned and uploaded on this web site shortly.

Also with the bikes came 4 badges that I had never seen before (see photos). As you can see, they are award badges that were apparently given to riders by the Adler factory, one for completing 50,000km without a breakdown (presumably to award the owner/rider for their servicing diligence and one for successful sporting riders. I am guessing that these badges were presented to Bob and his friend for making the trip to Frankfurt, as they are quite rare items to find.
